Our new friend, Steve originally came to us wanting to add style to his fireplace surround. At our first walk though, we found a clear, mid-century modern inspired vision that entailed quite a bit more than just a fireplace. Steve was a champ and our dream soon became a reality with warm wood paneled walls, concrete fireplace surround, old growth reclaimed live edge mantle, lighting from Rejuvenation, a clean Crestview door kit and most importantly, a very special cabinet that conceals a television. Thanks to local Minneapolis artist, Miles Mendenhall, the television cabinet doors are a screen printed portrait of Steve Prefontaine, whom our client, Steve is deeply inspired by as a avid marathon runner himself. We finished the design by partnering with Forage Modern Workshop, adding a live edge coffee table to match the mantle, a Rapson-Inc Chair, Squared Furniture side tables and Eastvold Credenza to conceal Steve's additional media, and other accents, like pillows and a throw. This was such a fun project!
